We are excited to announce the 11th Australasian Masonry Conference will be held in 2027
The Australasian Masonry Conference (AMC) is the premier forum in the Australasian region for the exchange of ideas, research, and innovation in masonry design, construction, and performance. The AMC attracts leading academics, engineers, architects, and industry professionals from across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond. Since its inception in 1991, the conference has been hosted by a range of institutions and continues to serve as a vital platform for advancing masonry technologies, celebrating heritage, and addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities within the built environment.
Context
The AMC series began in 1991, first hosted by The University of Newcastle and has grown into the leading forum in the Australasian region for the exchange of ideas between representatives across the masonry industry.
In the 10th Edition in 2018, many of the challenges associated with managing the large population of existing masonry buildings were addressed, including many wonderful examples contributing to our built cultural heritage. In addition, the challenges surrounding the use and reuse of masonry products in new construction were tabled and discussed. The scope included applications using all masonry products, including bricks, blocks and pavers.
The 11th Australasian Masonry Conference (AMC), set to take place in 2027, will be hosted by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane. With the theme "Innovation and Tradition: Masonry at the Intersection," this edition will explore how masonry continues to evolve while honouring its rich heritage. The conference will bring together leading minds in architecture and engineering to examine how contemporary innovations are enhancing the performance, sustainability, and design potential of masonry, all while preserving the cultural narratives embedded in traditional construction methods.
